Frequently Asked Questions

What veterinary records does my cat need?

We require staff approval of all five items before boarding:

  • Rabies: a current vaccination or documentation of three past vaccinations.
  • FVRCP/distemper: a current vaccination or documentation of three past vaccinations.
  • Stool parasites: a negative test within the past year. For multiple cats in one household, one cat’s result is accepted.
  • FIV: a negative test within the past three years.
  • FeLV: a negative test within the past three years, a current vaccination, or documentation of three past vaccinations.

Send records before arrival through your booking account or to micathotel@gmail.com.

My cat is vaccinated. Do you still need test results?

Yes. We also require a negative stool test within the past year and a negative FIV test within the past three years. For FeLV, we accept qualifying vaccination records or a negative test within the past three years.

How do I send records, and how do I know they’re approved?

Upload records through your booking account or email them to micathotel@gmail.com. We accept clear photos, PDFs, and electronic records. Staff review all five requirements and notify you when your cat’s records are approved. If anything is missing, we’ll tell you what’s needed.

Which room is best for my cat?

Choose the group room if your cat is comfortable sharing space and food with other cats. Choose a condo, suite, or private room if your cat needs their own space or must eat only their own food. If you’re unsure, tell us about your cat’s personality and routine and we’ll recommend a room.

Will my cat be able to eat only their own food?

In the group room, food is shared and cats can eat one another’s food. If your cat needs a prescription diet, has food sensitivities, or must eat only their own food, book a condo, suite, or private room. Bring enough of your cat’s usual food for the entire stay and provide feeding instructions.

Can you care for cats who need medication or insulin?

Yes, we can administer most cat medications, including insulin. Send us the medication names, doses, schedule, and your veterinarian’s instructions. We may ask you to demonstrate how you administer the medication on arrival.

Can my cats stay together?

Yes. Cats from the same household can stay together in the group room, a private room, or a suite.

  • Group room: A shared space with other cats, with climbing shelves, scratching posts, toys, and places to relax.
  • Sanctuary room: A private room just for your cats, with climbing shelves, a cat tree, beds, and window perches. Holds up to 5 cats.
  • Suite: A private enclosed space with shelves, raised resting platforms, and cozy bedding. Holds up to 3 cats.

Is boarding charged by the day or the night?

Boarding is charged by the calendar day, including both the day you drop off and the day you pick up. For example, dropping off Friday and picking up Saturday counts as two boarding days. Daycare is for drop-off and pickup on the same day.

What are drop-off and pickup hours?

Drop-off and pickup hours are 9 a.m.–7 p.m. Monday–Friday and 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Saturday–Sunday. On major holidays, drop-off and pickup are limited to 10 a.m.–noon. Choose your arrival and pickup times when booking. If your travel falls outside these hours, arrange to drop off the day before or pick up the day after.

Which holidays have limited hours?

Drop-off and pickup are available from 10 a.m. to noon on Easter Sunday, Memorial Day, July 4, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, and New Year’s Day.

When do I pay?

If you book more than 14 days before arrival, a 50% deposit is required. If you book 14 days or fewer before arrival, full payment is required. For stays with a deposit, the remaining balance is due six days before arrival and is charged to your selected card. Your reservation is confirmed once The Feline Hotel approves your stay.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. You can also pay by cash or check at The Feline Hotel, 1416 W Auburn Rd., Rochester Hills, MI 48309 and save the 3% card fee.

What is Purrfect Perks?

Purrfect Perks is a automatic renewing yearly membership that gives you 20% off boarding for all your cats. Membership costs $200 per year plus a $6 card processing fee and is separate from your boarding charges. It’s a popular option for families with multiple cats, frequent boarding guests, and daycare clients.

Can I tour before booking?

Yes. Tours are available on Fridays only, by appointment. Email micathotel@gmail.com with your preferred Friday and time. We’ll confirm your appointment before you visit.

Will I receive photos? Can I watch a live camera?

We send photo or video updates when possible, but daily updates are not guaranteed. Our interior cameras are for staff use, as staff stay on site day and night… You’re welcome to contact us for an update during your cat’s stay.

Do you still offer grooming?

We no longer offer full grooming services. We do offer walk-in cat nail trims Thursday–Saturday, 9 a.m.–noon. Nail trims cost $20 per cat, or $80 for one year of unlimited nail trims for one cat.

Can I change or cancel my reservation?

Yes. Submit changes or cancellations through your booking account or email micathotel@gmail.com. Date changes depend on availability. Cancellation notice counts when it is recorded in your account or received by email, including outside business hours.

What counts as a holiday stay?

A holiday stay includes any boarding date within seven days before or after Easter Sunday, Memorial Day, July 4, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, or New Year’s Day, including the holiday itself. The holiday cancellation schedule applies to the entire reservation.

How is the cancellation charge calculated?

During the partial-refund period, we retain 50% of the boarding charges for the first 14 billable days, or 50% of the entire stay’s boarding charges if the stay is shorter. This is calculated from the total boarding cost, not as a percentage of your deposit. Any payments above that amount are eligible for refund before the 3% card processing deduction.

For example, if a stay shorter than 14 billable days has $400 in boarding charges, the cancellation charge is $200. If you paid only a $200 deposit, there is nothing left to refund. If you paid the full $400 by card, $200 is eligible for refund before the $6 processing deduction, leaving a $194 refund.

What is the card-processing deduction?

After applying any cancellation charge, we deduct 3% of the otherwise refundable amount paid by credit or debit card. The deduction is rounded up to the next whole dollar. This also applies to card refunds made during the full-refund notice period.

How are refunds returned?

Refunds are returned through the original payment method when available and permitted. Any alternative method must be agreed and verified.

What if I don’t arrive or pick up early?

No-shows, cancellations on or after arrival, and unused days after voluntary early pickup receive no refund unless we expressly agree otherwise in writing.
